Preserved Brain Sample Storage

Apex Neuroscience provides long-term storage for preserved brain samples and related research materials that might otherwise be discarded.

We appreciate the scientific value of older collections and the work that went into creating them. These materials may remain useful for neuroscience, neuropathology, comparative anatomy, microscopy, brain preservation research, and other future studies.

Our goal is to help researchers, laboratories, and institutions preserve these materials and, when appropriate, make them available for future research.

Materials We May Accept

We are open to receiving preserved nervous system samples from many different animal species, including:

• Brains stored in formalin or another fixative
• Paraffin-embedded tissue blocks
• Epoxy- or acrylic-resin blocks prepared for electron microscopy
• Histology slides
• Electron microscopy grids
• Associated images, records, and research data

Complete documentation is helpful, but it is not required for you to contact us. We understand that older collections may have incomplete records, unusual formats, or other practical challenges.

Finding a Long-Term Home for a Collection

We welcome inquiries from researchers, laboratories, universities, veterinary institutions, microscopy facilities, museums, and anyone else responsible for preserved scientific collections.

Please Contact Us, even if you are unsure whether a collection would be a good fit. We will try our best to make it possible for scientifically useful samples to be preserved rather than discarded.

If you are comfortable with the samples being shared, we can also discuss a plan for making them available to other qualified researchers. Any future sharing would be based on the history of the collection, available documentation, applicable restrictions, and your preferences.
